Not only do I make amazing, addictive, high-end granola, oatmeal and skin care, I am a multimedia artist.

One of my arts is rock carving - Jade in particular

I have had the honour of being under the tutelage of the award winning Canadian jade carver, Deborah Wilson.

This is dendritic chalcedony tremolite jade from Cassiar, BC

This slightly chonky (14.2g, 25mm x 35/40mm) pendant also features the Deborah Wilson 'saddle notch' I learned to hold the cord in place and so it's beautifully flush with the top of the stone.

To have creamy, fibrous tremolite jade as jewelry is HIGHLY rare and a showpiece like this?

With the dendrites and nephrite jade accents?

Well - apparently this material is from the edges of jade deposits and is often too hard to work with so ends up in the rubble pile (It can't be mass produced by machine into shapes like Cassiar nephrite does, is finicky and special precautions need to be taken with it)

Never going to see another piece like this.

It is one of a kind and was one of a kind before I touched it, before I carved out the soft spots into a random shape and a leaf and sanded.. polished..bringing out its' "BAM!"

This stone has had over 10 hours of my touch and attention and will get more.

And, because of the rarity of the material and the love into it, this piece will be priced accordingly.

It will also be engraved with my hallmark (Who knew you ought to 'sign' ALL your rock work!)

It is a Monday thru Sunday setup - apparently Monday is the first day of the week in Slovania so 'duly note' for us who typically use Sunday thru Saturday.

And I forgot it is required to include 'do not get in eyes' and 'external use only' with soaps (Because, apparently, people need to be informed this about soap...?)

Laughing at myself and 'duly noting' about how doing instead of resting when I need it doesn't help get things done.

Canadian Thanksgiving

It's on a different date than the one in the United States because it IS different.

Same name.

Many of the same comfort foods on the dinner menu.

But that's where the similarities end.

Canadian Thanksgiving is literally a day of 'thanks' and 'giving'

A day to give thanks for the bounties we have harvested.

Before it was literally about crops but, in modern age, it's taken on new(ish) meanings

The fruits of our labours

The nourishment of mind, body and soul we have cultivated and harvested in our lives vs in our fields.

We give thanks for what we had, have and for what's to come.

So

When a Canadian says "Happy Thanksgiving" they mean exactly what they say.

'Happy Thanksgiving' from me and mine to you and yours.

Ahhhhh the vanilla bean

The very very valuable and histamine friendly seed pod of an orchid.

Yup, an orchid - vanilla planifolia

When someone (likely husbandguy) said "Hey, Lisa, did you know the vanilla bean is from an orchid?"

I responded "G**O! NO. NO WAY!"

Yes, way.

It is the second most expensive spice next to saffron (another of my favourites and another histamine friendly, even HELPING spice/herb)

And is also one of the most labour extensive to grow, harvest and cure.

Ahhhhh, the seedpods of the vanilla planifolia

As I shared in my soap story, I have MCAS and HIT (mast cell activation syndrome and histamine intolerance)(along with other metabolism quirks)

Navigating it, even without flare ups, is a challenge.

Sometimes I'm afraid to eat because I don't know how full my histamine bucket is and if that one food or drink will overflow it.

Or my bucket is ALREADY overflowing so eating something I'm usually good with may unexpectedly send me deeper into pain and fog, even anaphylaxis type symptoms (severe allergic reactions to water and to, what felt like, myself)

And the fear releases more histamine, making things worse.

It's a cycle that fuels itself.

During flare-ups, one of the hardest things is eating.

It takes energy that isn't there.

It takes knowing and remembering what can be eaten and having the finances to buy it then the 'umph' to make it.

Having something on hand to eat that is quick, delicious and histamine friendly is challenging and a great tool for feeling better.

This is why I am developing a 5 minute oatmeal that is MCAS and HIT aware AND tasty.

It will be made with the freshest histamine friendly ingredients available to me, cooled quickly and stored in a glass canning jar in the freezer until it comes to you. (With recommendations it's stored in the freezer to keep histamine at its lowest possible level)
