NURSE MENTORSHIP CERTIFICATION CEREMONY - A SUCCESS!

On Wednesday 14th October 2026, Connaught Teaching Hospital Complex, in partnership with Mercy Ships successfully held the Nurse Mentorship Certification Ceremony for Cohort 1 at the Swiss Hotel, Spur Road, Lumley.

The ceremony celebrated our dedicated nurses who completed the Nurse Mentoring Project under the Safer Surgery Programme at Connaught Hospital (2024-2027) a vital step towards safe and quality surgical care.

We are immensely proud of our Nurse Mentors who are now equipped to mentor, lead, and strengthen nursing care and safe surgery at Connaught.

Congratulations to all our certified Nurse Mentors! Your hard work, compassion and commitment to saving lives through safe surgery is an inspiration to us all.

Connaught Hospital continues to strengthen healthcare delivery with modern diagnostic equipment, including a 128-Slice CT Scanner, 4D Ultrasound, Mammography and Digital X-ray, improving the detection and diagnosis of various health conditions.

ANOTHER MILESTONE IN CONNAUGHT HOSPITAL'S TRANSFORMATION!

Connaught Hospital continues to make remarkable strides in improving its facilities and healthcare environment under the dedicated leadership of the Care Manager, Dr. I. Mark Kapuwa, and his management team.

During a hospital tour this morning, Dr. Kapuwa and his team inspected a newly renovated space at the hospital's laboratory, marking another significant step in the ongoing transformation of the institution. Following the inspection, the key to the renovated space was formally handed over to Dr. Kapuwa before being presented to the Head of the Laboratory.

The renovation was carried out by AISPO, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The project forms part of a broader framework supporting the accreditation of the new residency programme in Haematology.

This development reflects the management's continued commitment to improving hospital facilities, strengthening service delivery, and creating a better environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.

The progress being made at Connaught Hospital is a testament to the vision, dedication, teamwork, and tireless efforts of Dr. Kapuwa and his team. With every improvement, the hospital continues to demonstrate its commitment to better healthcare services and a stronger healthcare system for Sierra Leone.

WARD 6 OFFICIALLY REOPENS AFTER RENOVATION

A new chapter begins for Ward 6 at Connaught Hospital as the newly renovated ward was officially opened today, marking another significant step in our ongoing efforts to improve the hospital environment and enhance patient care.

The renovation was carried out under the leadership of Dr. I. Mark Kapuwa and his dedicated team, whose commitment to transforming healthcare services continues to make a meaningful difference.
