Dr. James Ajuong Arou Declares Aspiration for National Parliament Constituency No. 14, Bor Gok

Jonglei State, South Sudan Dr. James Ajuong Arou has formally expressed his aspiration to contest for a seat in the National Parliament of South Sudan, representing Constituency No. 14 in Bor Gok County, Jonglei State, under the banner of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

𝗕𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗦 𝗨𝗣!

The race for 𝗕𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟯 (𝗠𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗺/𝗝𝘂𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗼𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻) in the South Sudan National Legislative Assembly is already taking shape ahead of the 𝟮𝟮 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Two gentlemen have already declared their interest, both under the 𝗦𝗣𝗟𝗠:

BREAKING: FORMER JONGLEI GOVERNOR PHILIP AGUER DECLARES BID FOR GOVERNORSHIP

PANYAGOR, Twic East County — October 8, 2026 — Former Jonglei State Governor and former SPLA spokesperson Hon. Philip Aguer Panyang has declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Jonglei State.

Aguer made the declaration today in Panyagor, the headquarters of Twic East County.

His priorities include resettling Jonglei communities in the highlands, promoting commercial agriculture, and addressing the cycle of communal violence and insecurity affecting communities across the state.

His proposed focus on resettlement and agriculture builds on priorities associated with his previous tenure, when he advocated for the return of displaced populations and the development of agriculture in Jonglei.

Aguer has also previously called for grassroots approaches to peacebuilding in Jonglei, particularly in addressing cattle raiding, abductions and revenge killings between communities.

In a separate political development, Lt. Gen. Chol Biar-Adol Ngang has declared his intention to contest for the National Legislative Assembly seat representing Twic East County.
