Workshop Topics
🍃 Farming and growing practices: soil health, insect, disease, and w**d management.
📄 Farm business management: grants, loans, financing, and land leasing/contracts
🥬 Federal and State programs and resources for farmers

Who should attend: small-acreage farmers and growers, direct market farmers/growers, beginning and experienced farmers.

Sessions will be in Hmong and English, and interpretation and language support are provided

𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗛𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗴'𝘀 𝗟𝘂𝗯 𝗞𝗮𝘄𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀!

The Lub Kawm Project provides fresh, nutritious, and culturally familiar foods to HMoob elders through food box distributions, helping support their health, well-being, and access to fresh produce.

Through our LubKawm Project, we purchase culturally significant produce directly from local HMong farmers to serve for our elders. This initiative supports the health and nutrition of our elders while strengthening the local economy and preserving traditional HMong farming practices.

𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 & 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆
This program prioritizes serving HMoob elders, 64+ years old, particularly those who:

• Live alone or have limited income
• Are homebound or have a disability
• Have limited access to fresh produce and nutritious foods.

We also consider individuals under 64 based on their circumstances and needs.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, we encourage you to complete the registration form below. Family members, caregivers, and community partners are also welcome to refer an elder.

What a beautiful day of teamwork, generosity, and community spirit at our Zion Elder's Community Garden!

A HUGE shout out to the Appleton West High School 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺! These young athletes are just one win away from STATE, yet they took time out of their busy schedules to roll up their sleeves and help prepare our garden for our elders. Now THAT is what being a champion is all about! Showing leadership, kindness, and heart both on and off the court. We are so grateful for you boys!

A special thank you to 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 for providing donuts and water to keep our hardworking volunteers refreshed and fueled throughout the morning. Your thoughtfulness and kindness are truly appreciated!

And of course, thank you to our wonderful elders, community volunteers, and NEW HMong staff who came together to make today possible. Every helping hand made a difference in preparing a space where our elders can stay connected to their roots, find a sense of purpose and peace, remain physically active, and nurture their mental and emotional well-being, all while growing fresh, organic vegetables to nourish themselves, their families, and the community in the coming gardening season.

The date is quickly approaching so this is a reminder for volunteers to come help with the Hmong Elder Garden Project at Zion!

We will be preparing an additional gardening area by moving and tilling soil so it will be ready for spring planting. 🌱

𝗣𝗔𝗝 𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗨𝗕 𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗖𝗟𝗘 𝗚𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗢𝗡 𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗟𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗣!

Tonight, Rasami & our Elders took a little break from their usual Paj Ntaub Circle activities and went on a mini field trip to the Appleton Public Library!

They had the pleasure of meeting with 𝗠𝘀. Sia Chang, who gave our elders a wonderful introduction to the library and the many resources, programs, and services available to our community! There's so much more to the library than just checking out books!

Here are just a few of the wonderful services we learned about that would be so beneficial to our elders:

𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 – A home delivery service for individuals who may have difficulty getting to the library. What a wonderful resource for our homebound elders and able to connect with someone who speaks their language!
𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 – Need help using your smartphone, writing coggan email, or learning how to use a computer? The library offers technology support!
𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 – Assistance with job searches, résumé building, and other employment resources for their families.
𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘅 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 – Opportunities to explore and discover more of what our local community has to offer!
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 – Access to TumbleBooks and other digital learning materials through the library's website, without having to pay for certain subscription services separately.
𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 – Yes, FREE! Just be sure to call ahead to arrange for the service.

But one of the most exciting moments of our visit was that 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀!

What a wonderful experience! Our elders are excited to explore and take advantage of these resources in the future.
