I started passing by this field of marigolds last fall when I was pregnant. It was so beautiful and vibrant. This year, with the heat, the flowers didn’t bloom quite as fully, but the field was still just as beautiful. It’s become one of my favorite sights on my way to and from the office.
Seeing marigolds always reminds me of my days in Central America, particularly the kite festival I used to attend in Guatemala.
Marigolds are traditionally used to adorn cemeteries and altars as part of ofrendas, their vibrant colors and fragrance believed to guide the souls of loved ones who have passed back to the world of the living for Día de los Mu***os.
This is a day I’ve come to celebrate and honor all of my grandparents and loved ones who have passed on. 🧡
¡Feliz Día de los Mu***os!

Just some almost 9 month spooky legs and what’s on my heart 🧡
Fall is such a season of nostalgia. It feels like time speeds up as we reach this time of year. With holidays, travel, and a constantly changing, almost 9-month-old baby, I feel time slipping away even more.
I wish I could freeze him for a little bit longer.
I wish I could get a second October with this now cooler weather.
I wish I could slow down just a little bit more.
And so I do, in all the in-between moments. I give myself permission to lie in bed with a book while Atlas naps, or take a nap myself. I sit with him on the couch during our morning wake-ups. I play with him in his playpen instead of rushing around trying to clean up the house while he’s entertained. I am working on being present. This is my meditation these days.
I recently recognized that all those years of sitting quietly in my chair first thing in the morning prepared me for now. The life I spent those years manifesting is here. And yes, there is room for growth, but in a sense, there’s no more mystery. Life is here, happening every day. And if I keep myself so busy, I might miss something that I can’t get back.
So I invite you to do the same.
Give yourself permission to pause, to slow down, to listen to your heart, to stare at your child, to give praise to your significant other, to make time for coffee with a friend, to take the trip you’ve been dreaming of.
Life is truly fleeting. It’s important to enjoy it while we can 🥹
Update: a little on life, my clinic, and my own body 🩷

I practiced Qigong with Fay McGrew throughout my pregnancy. With my limited energy, her special care and gentle practice gave me a way to move, slow down, and connect with myself. This is an essential practice in Chinese Medicine. ✨
This Saturday, I’m welcoming Fay into our space to share her Yang Sheng practice, rooted in the Chinese Medicine tradition of nourishing life. Through gentle movement, breathing, and meditation, we’ll explore ways to support ourselves through the changing season.

Fall is a season of letting go 🍂
We turned 8 months this last week and it feels like our sweet boy is changing at an even quicker pace. Everyday I’m trying to hang on to my tiny baby that keeps growing and also keep up with life and business.
The grief that comes with this season of fall and the metal element in Chinese Medicine feels even more present this year.
I hit a wall over the weekend with fighting a cold and allergies and preparing for our second trip with Atlas. Our last trip, I felt like I was super prepared and had all the things together. This trip, I found myself frantically trying to get it all together and working. Interestingly, this trip was even smoother with a 4 hour flight and 3 hour time difference to Florida than our only 2 hour flight and 1 hour time difference to Colorado. So maybe we just had some muscle memory this time around?
We left San Diego during the 100 degree heat wave and will most likely arrive home on Sunday to hurricane rains- assuming we can get back.
Being a fall lover, I was really grieving it not feeling like fall and unable to really embrace it with fall and Halloween decorations before we left.
What this season is teaching me even more is the art of letting go of expectations and getting all the things done. Most days, I can only get a few things done on top of taking care of Atlas and the days I’m in the office, I’m fully focused on patients and doing whatever marketing and admin I can in between. As a recovering perfectionist, it’s a true test, but my mantra for these last few years as been “done is better than perfect!”
So here we are, a share for you on what’s my mind and heart at 8 months postpartum with my favorite human.
What are you letting go of this season?
