I’m convinced some of these Haircare marketing departments have lost their DAMN MINDS. 😂💀

A sprinkle of science, a bucketload of bu****it and suddenly we’re selling miracles in a bottle. ✨🤡

The claims are WILD, the fine print is doing Olympic-level gymnastics and the actual evidence? Oh babe, that’s proprietary. 💅😂

19 years of doing hair and absolutely nobody asked for my opinion but unfortunately I have one 😂

Man, I’m so devastated about Dolly Parton’s passing. 💔

Of course she was an incredible woman — kind, courageous, generous, talented beyond measure, and completely unapologetic about being herself.

But Dolly is also part of the reason I became a hairdresser.

Her portrayal of Truvy in Steel Magnolias set my dreams in stone. I wanted to be the small-town hairdresser in the little salon on the corner. Where you laughed, talked s**t, got looked after, spoiled yourself a little and left feeling better than when you walked in.

A small, safe space built around people.

And I think part of why Dolly’s passing has hit me so hard is because that version of hairdressing feels like it’s disappearing too.

This industry used to be so much more about connection, individuality, craft and joy.

Now so much of it feels like constant selling.

More products. More trends. More “must-haves”. More fixing things that were never broken in the first place.

Major product companies have become greedy, marketing is relentless, social media has turned every service into content and influencer culture has helped create a beauty standard that is somehow both completely unattainable and painfully identical.

And it hasn’t just affected big-city salons.

It’s seeped through the whole industry, individuality is slowly being replaced by whatever look the algorithm has decided is beautiful this week.

I’m still an absolute fiend for a good before & after 😂
I still love the science, the creativity and the craft of hair.
And I deeply love the people who sit in my chair.

But I’d be lying if I said I love what the industry has become.

I don’t think I could ever confidently encourage my own daughter to pursue hairdressing as a career the way I once dreamed of it.

So maybe the best thing I can do is protect my own tiny corner of it.

A little salon.
A safe space.
Good hair, good chats, no pressure.

A place where beauty can still be fun, individual and human.
