This client first came to me with very dark hair. She had spent years box dyeing and colouring her hair at home. She decided it was finally time to embrace her natural regrowth that was coming through a mixture of grey and white. So we did a grey blending service 🪄

•At our very first session together she had a full head highlighting service, toner with cut and blow dry.

•Our second session together we went in with just a t-bar section of highlights, toner & blow dry.

•And at our most recent session (today) we have just done a TONER service on its own - no need for more highlights no more foils & definitely no more reaching for those off the shelf dyes ❌

Today's colour transformation.

This client decided to box dye her platinum blonde dyed hair... & Then regretted doing so, So today we went in with a full head highlight ,toner and a decent haircut to rid of those damaged ends.

She eventually would like to get back to her platinum blonde hair colour but of course these sort of transformations take time and a lot of care to ensure the hair is not compromised and still remains healthy!

Very pleased with today's result 🫶🏼✨

✨ PERMANENT HAIR DYE… SO WHY ISN’T IT PERMANENT? ✨

One of the most common questions I get asked by new clients I see here at MERAKI Hair Studio during their initial consultation is… “Why does my permanent hair colour fade?” Or “Why doesn’t my hair look like the colour on the box?” 🤔

Let’s clear something up! 👇🏼

PERMANENT HAIR DYE DOESN’T MEAN PERMANENT COLOUR THAT NEVER FADES.

It means the colour process permanently changes the hair’s internal structure. Permanent colour works by opening the hair’s cuticle and allowing colour molecules to develop inside the hair shaft. This changes your hair’s natural pigment and can leave a lasting chemical change, even when the colour itself begins to fade.

So, why can your colour fade, turn brassy, reveal unwanted tones or look completely different to what you expected? 👀

Your starting colour, hair history, condition, the dye formulation and your aftercare can all influence the result.

And here’s the important part… removing or correcting permanent box dye isn’t always simple! It can take multiple salon appointments, specialist colour correction and time to achieve your desired result while protecting the condition of your hair.

Those cheap supermarket boxes might seem like a quick fix, but the cost of correcting an unwanted result can be much higher in the long run. 🤎
