Something I tell my blonde clients pretty often: You don’t need a full highlight every time.
If your color still looks good underneath, refreshing the front and top may be all you need. I usually save a full highlight for when the rest of your hair needs brightening, too.
It’s about keeping your blonde balanced without lightening hair that doesn’t need it.

Your blonde might not need more highlights.
When highlights build up over time, your hair can start looking like one solid blonde, losing the contrast that made it look bright in the first place.
Sometimes adding a few deeper pieces brings the blonde back to life, softens the grow-out, and gives your ends a break from more lightening.
A little depth can make your blonde stand out even more.

Red hair doesn’t have to be one solid shade.
Keeping some depth underneath and adding brighter red tones throughout creates dimension and movement.
One thing to know about red….It fades faster than many other shades, so a gloss between appointments can help maintain that richness and shine.

This fall, I'm seeing lots of soft layers, richer color, and shorter shapes. Boyfriend bobs, face framing layers, warm blondes, rich brunettes, caramel dimension, and copper tones are all showing up this season.

Sometimes going darker isn’t about covering everything up. Her highlights had gotten a little too light and warm over time, so the goal was to bring back more brunette without losing the dimension.
I added depth, softened the brighter pieces, refined the tone, and cleaned up the shape so everything felt richer and more balanced.
Now you see brunette first, highlights second.
That also gives her a softer grow-out and an easier color plan moving forward.

Good hair isn’t one appointment. It’s a plan that evolves.
Hair changes, goals change, and what we do should change with them. That’s one of my favorite parts of working with clients over the years.

Blonding doesn’t have to mean brighter everywhere.
Sometimes the best result comes from placing lightness where it makes the biggest difference, then leaving enough depth so the color still has dimension.
Gray blending and gray coverage are two different goals.
If you want to keep your gray covered, a root touch-up may be the better fit.
If you want a softer grow-out, gray blending usually takes more time and often more than one appointment.
I break down the difference on my blog. Link below.

A good color appointment starts with more than showing me an inspiration photo.
I look at your current color, your natural hair, your maintenance routine and what you realistically want to do between appointments.
Then we choose a plan that makes sense for your hair, not just the picture you brought in.
That's why every new guest starts with a consultation before we book the service.

If your haircut gets bulky fast, adding more layers isn’t always the answer.
Every haircut needs something a little different. Sometimes it’s removing weight in the right areas, sometimes it’s adding movement, and sometimes it’s keeping enough structure so the shape doesn’t fall apart.
