😆😆😆😂I used to give an assignment twice a year to my 7th graders in which they would be assigned a country, given a list of facts to find about that country, write a paper about the country incorporating those facts, then present the country to the class. When we did European countries I always saved Vatican City (yes, folks, it IS its own country) for the kids who most needed a challenge-it’s incredibly small, has almost no natural resources, and the population is nearly all Catholics who have chosen the religious life. But I loved watching those kids first struggle, then rise to the challenge.

I wish any one of them could let the president know that the Pope does not deal with the almost non-existent crime in Vatican City and there isn’t a whole lot of foreign policy to worry about. It is just embarrassing and sad that my 13 year old students knew more about Vatican City than our president does.

I started making jewelry because I believe that every person deserves to feel beautiful and I find that wearing jewelry often helps me feel more put together. As a sixty something woman, whatever helps me feel more put together is always a good thing! To be clear, however, feeling put together has been difficult, since last Tuesday. I am heartbroken and sad and still in disbelief--not that the Republicans won (please, give me some credit, I have lived through that before), but because a misogynistic, lying, cheating, narcissist got more than half of this county to vote for him.

I am working on my "soldier on" breathing and used up some of my red clay yesterday to press a few red and gold hearts and flowers (making lemonade out of lemons, if you will). It seems an age since I've been able to update -oh wait it has been an age since I've been able to update. At the start of summer my girls and I headed to Colombia for a wedding and had a great time. The wedding was beautiful, the guests were fun and the country was amazing! I came home ready to make beach inspired pieces...and then three of us came down with COVID (all vaxxed and boosted so we came out okay--but maybe won't go through the Miami airport again any time soon!). Anyway, just as I recovered I dropped a frozen log of meat on my foot and broke two toes. From there, summer just kind of...evolved. So, it's fall again and that means my favorite holiday is on the horizon--Halloween! I've dropped some beach and garden inspired things but I've also added some of my early halloween designs.
