Hey Curl Friendz! I’m Gellisa Fevrier, a licensed Curly Girl Specialist based in Brandon/Flowood/Madison Ms. This page is dedicated to celebrating all textures .
Let’s embrace every part of our natural beauty and be bold, fierce, and fearless together!
When my client first reached out to me about her hair, I honestly didn’t think it was that serious. But once I started examining her hair section by section, I quickly realized her concerns were valid.
Sometimes, the damage is deeper than what we can see on the surface.
Here’s to another big chop..
Stay tuned for part two to find out what led us to this decision.
Hey Curl Friendz! 🪩
Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get discussed enough. Men need curly cuts too!
Sometimes people think it’s unusual for men to book a curly cut, but curls don’t have a gender, and neither does healthy hair care.
A curly cut isn’t just about taking length off. It’s about understanding the curl pattern, density, shape, and how the hair naturally falls. Men with textured hair can experience uneven growth, excessive bulk, and a lack of shape just like anyone else.
And no, every man with curls doesn’t need a fade or a traditional barber cut. Sometimes the goal is to maintain length, create balance, and allow those curls to fall naturally.
As a textured hair educator, I want more men to understand that taking care of their curls is just as important as getting a haircut.
Now let me ask y’all something: Do you think more men should consider getting professional curly cuts instead of traditional haircuts? 👀
Hey Curl Friendz! Here's a quick tip for adding volume without sacrificing curl definition. The secret is lifting at the roots instead of pulling your comb through the entire curl. A little lift goes a long way!
Are you picking your curls the right way?
Hey Curl Friendz!
One thing about me, I’m going to turn every opportunity into an educational moment.
Today, one of my favorite clients came in, and baby, he has some HAIR! Thick, coarse, full of density, and multiple textures throughout his head.
But instead of having the assistants stand back and watch, I put him to work today, honey🤎
Because here’s the thing: watching someone work is great, but actually putting your hands in the hair is where the real learning begins.
Today, we focused on products & creating a system for properly sectioning and two-strand twisting highly textured hair.
And here’s what I love about hands on education. Once you understand the hair, choose the appropriate products, and learn the proper techniques, you realize textured hair isn’t nearly as complicated as it may seem.
It’s not about working harder. It’s about understanding WHY you’re doing what you’re doing.
Continuing education will always be a part of who I am as a stylist and educator. Because the more we learn, the better we can serve the people who trust us with their crowns.
Now let me ask my fellow stylists and future stylists: Do you learn better by watching someone demonstrate or by actually getting your hands in the hair? Let’s talk in the comments.
Hey Curl Friendz! 💕
Let’s talk about technique because sometimes it’s not about buying another product. It’s about learning how to properly work with the hair you already have.
When styling your natural hair, pay attention to your sections, product distribution, and how you’re working the product through each strand.
Remember, healthy hair starts with understanding your hair, not fighting against it.
Now tell me, curl friendz, what’s one thing you struggle with when styling your natural hair? 👀
Lately, people have been asking me, “What’s next for Gellisa? What is Gellisa doing? What is Gellisa creating?”
And honestly, I don’t know what the future holds. But what I do know is that I’m not the director, and I’m not the screenwriter. I’m simply a cast member following the script that God has already written for my life. ❤️
I don’t know every scene, every plot twist, or what the next chapter will look like. But I trust the One who is writing my story.
My job is to remain faithful, stay obedient, and keep showing up.
I may not know what’s next, but I know Who holds the pen. 🙌🏽
Hey Curly Friendz!
If I asked you to describe your natural hair in just 3 words, what would you say?
Today, I had a raw, unfiltered conversation with my client about how she sees her natural hair.
As a natural hair educator, I believe understanding your hair goes beyond knowing your curl pattern. It’s also about your relationship with your hair, how you feel about it, and learning to appreciate what naturally grows from your scalp.
Now I want to hear from you.
Drop 3 words in the comments that describe YOUR natural hair. No wrong answers.
Hey Curly Friendz, my OG client switched up on me, and baby, we had to have a conversation.
She’s going from wearing her natural hair straight to wanting to embrace her curls, and that means we have to take a different approach to her hair care.
One thing about me, I’m going to be honest with my clients because I refuse to sell them a dream.
Consultations are not just for first-time clients. They are just as important for clients who have been sitting in your chair for YEARS.
I love consulting with my clients before and after their services because hair goals change, lifestyles change, and sometimes what worked for you six months ago may not work for you today.
In this raw consultation, you’ll hear us going back and forth about what we both feel will work best for her hair. And that’s okay because honesty and communication on BOTH ends are what help us create realistic hair goals.
I want my clients to feel comfortable expressing what they want, but I also want them to understand what their hair may need to get there.
Now, curl friends, let me ask you something. Do you think hairstylists should continue doing consultations with longtime clients, or should consultations only be for new clients?
Let’s talk in the comments.
Hey Curl Friendz, we are back with part two!
Now, one thing I absolutely love is when my clients bring me natural hairstyles that not only complement their texture but also fit their personality and overall aesthetic.
My girl brought this hairstyle back up because she wanted us to recreate it, but this time with our own little twist. And baby, I was excited because this is honestly one of my favorite styles to create on her.
For her leave-in treatment, we used the Moroccanoil hair mist treatment and of course, I reached for my go-to Dyson Supersonic blow dryer. And Dyson, I am so serious when I say I am your girl. I’m ready to be on the team!
But can we get into this finished look? The volume, the height, the texture. Everything came together beautifully.
Now tell me, Curl Friendz, with the colder months approaching, is this a natural hairstyle you would wear during the winter season? Let me know in the comments!
Hey curl friendz! Have you ever watched a TV show or flipped through a magazine and saw a hairstyle that made you say, “Yep, I want that hairstyle!”?
Well, about a year and a half ago, my client and I were inspired by a hairstyle from one of our favorite shows, All American.
And baby, if you watch All American, then you already know Simone stays with some of the CUTEST hairstyles!
So my girl came back wanting another look inspired by Simone, and of course, we had to make it happen!
Now, we didn’t recreate the style exactly how Simone wore it because one thing about me, I love taking inspiration and making it work for my client’s hair, personal style, and lifestyle.
And baby, we did just that!
Now, who wants to see how this style turned out? Comment “PART 2” below, and I’ll show y’all the final look!
