“If we think of creativity in the light of its word origin, what yoga does first is it gives us an inner mobility. It gives us a mobility that is not based on muscle contraction. It is in the body— in the tissues, the skin, the reach of the breath and so on. This movement does not lead to a sense of accomplishment but to a deep emotional satisfaction, a trade dance of pleasure without an object.
It is a state of non-inference because a form of balance is found. It is a state of quiet concentration, of total receptivity. Because is wipes the slate clean, one can start over without external conceptions. It enables one to reach a state beyond the ‘learned’ categorization of the outside world. It puts us in touch with our own selves. It allows us to see.”

“The highest goal to which a human being can and ought to aspire does not lie in some separate realm or ‘outer’, extrinsic world, but is, rather, within oneself, as one’s core intrinsic being. Yoga expands, purifies, and illuminates our understanding of self and world.”
-Ian Whicher
“According to yoga, the disciplines of science, metaphysics and philosophy must converge in the artist with a personal mysticism that penetrates the confused surfaces of experience to extract the principle of being.
Perfection lies in the purity and inclusiveness of the resultant world-view.
The world we commonly experience is a world of total relativity.
The yogi-artist realizes and sustains himself into a wider and deeper relationship with the cosmos.”
- Ajit Mookerjee

“The goal of yogic transformation is realized in contemplative practice. The path to freedom consists of a gradual unwinding of misconceptions that allows for fresh perceptions.
It is as if one were walking attentively through a forest in which one could not precisely identify every animal, bird, flower, and tree. Even so, the sounds of the various creatures, the smells of flowers and ferns, and the shapes of trees move one toward more acute awareness of the environment, and in this process of reorientation the contours of the landscape change.
The way of yoga is not a simple, linear path. Rather, it is a complex method involving a radical change in the way we experience the world and conceive the process of knowing ourselves.”
