Let’s talk about salon waste. 🌿

It’s not exactly the prettiest part of what we do, but it’s something we think is worth talking about.

Between the foils, color tubes, leftover hair color, gloves, and all the little things that add up throughout the day, salons create a lot more waste than you might realize.

Since opening Lavender in 2018, we’ve worked with Green Circle Salons to make sure as much of that waste as possible is collected for recycling and recovery rather than ending up in the trash.

So far this year, we’ve collected another 104 pounds of salon waste. And after looking back at our numbers, we realized we’ve officially passed 1,000 pounds since opening our doors!

That’s over 1,000 pounds of materials we’ve been able to keep out of traditional disposal through our recycling and recovery efforts.

We’re far from perfect, and there’s always more we can be doing. But we’re proud of the little things we’ve built into our everyday routines that make a difference over time.

Hi, I’m Laurel. 🤍

It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself around here, not just as the owner of Lavender, but as the person behind it.

I opened Salon Lavender in 2018 with an idea of creating a salon that felt a little different. A space that was thoughtful, welcoming, creative, and conscious of the products we use and the environment we create for both our clients and our team.

Eight years later, Lavender has grown and changed in ways I never could have completely planned for. And so have I.

These days, I spend my time somewhere between being behind the chair, mentoring our stylists, running the business, dreaming up what comes next, and being a mom outside of these walls. There are a lot of hats, and admittedly, I’m still learning how to wear all of them without trying to do everything at once.

Hair has been such a huge part of my life, but what I love most about this work has always been the people. The relationships built over years of appointments. Watching clients move through different seasons of their lives. Helping newer stylists find their confidence and their own place in this industry. Creating a salon that people genuinely want to come back to.

Lavender is still evolving. I am too.

And after eight years, I think I’m more excited about what this little salon can become than I was when I first opened the doors.

Today we’re celebrating Malina Foss one year anniversary at Salon Lavender!

Over the past year, we’ve loved watching her grow as a stylist and become such an important part of our team. Her kind heart, attention to detail, and beautiful lived-in color make every guest feel right at home.

This year, together, we made a real impact 🌿

Through our partnership with , Salon Lavender helped keep 254.5 pounds of beauty waste out of landfills and waterways in 2025.

That includes:
• 218.5 lbs of solid waste
• 36.0 lbs of liquid waste

And collectively, Green Circle salons diverted over 1.1 million pounds of waste this year.

Every color, every service, every visit adds up to something bigger than just great hair. It’s about caring for our community, our environment, and the future we’re all part of.

What started as a vision has grown into something so much bigger than we ever imagined. Over the past 8 years, we have built more than a salon. We have built a space for connection, creativity, and care.
