Santa Barbara: A City, a Soap Opera, a Whole Generation of Memories 🌴📺

To many Americans, Santa Barbara is a beautiful California coastal town. But for millions of Russians, it means something else entirely: a legendary American soap opera that became part of our childhood.

In the early 1990s, when TV entertainment was limited, Santa Barbara opened a window into another world — glamorous mansions, complicated romances, family feuds, and endless plot twists.

I remember sitting down to dinner with my family in front of the TV, waiting for the next episode. For many of us, the show became a ritual — and its theme music is still recognizable within just a few notes. 🎶

The series ran in the U.S. from 1984 to 1993, but its cultural legacy in Russia took on a life of its own. Today, saying “This is turning into a real Santa Barbara!” in Russian means that a situation has become an endless, tangled drama.

And here’s the twist: the show was filmed mostly in Burbank, not in Santa Barbara itself!

Now, walking through the real city, with its palms, Spanish-style architecture, and Pacific Ocean views, I can’t help feeling that I’m visiting a place connected to my own childhood.

For Americans, Santa Barbara is a place. For many Russians, it’s a whole era. ❤️

Did you ever watch the show?

A little vacation reminder… ✈️❤️

I’ll be taking a little break from October 15–30. 🌿

My husband and I are planning a little road trip through California, and I’m really looking forward to exploring new places, spending some time outdoors, and simply slowing down for a bit. ❤️

If you have any must-see places in California that you think I absolutely shouldn’t miss, please share them in the comments! I’d love to hear your recommendations and will definitely check them out. 👀✨

I’m also looking forward to coming back refreshed and ready to see all of you again. ❤️

If you already know you’ll need an appointment after my vacation, you can book ahead here:
