Your Skincare Shouldn’t Stop at Your Chin 🤍
Let’s talk about two areas that are easy to forget: your neck and décolleté, that’s your upper chest.
You carefully apply your skincare to your face… and then get dressed and move on with your day. Sound familiar?
These areas deserve some attention, too. Especially when a lower neckline, a necklace, or holiday photos suddenly has you noticing skin you haven’t thought much about. And let's not even bring up post menopause!
Here’s how I like to keep it simple:
✨ Make them part of your routine.
When you cleanse, tone and moisturize, remember your neck and upper chest. Be gentle, as there’s no need for vigorous scrubbing or pulling at the skin.
✨ Be thoughtful about active ingredients.
A product your face tolerates beautifully may feel irritating on your neck. Don’t assume every retinol, exfoliant, or treatment belongs everywhere. If you’re unsure, bring it in and we’ll talk about it.
✨ Give these areas realistic expectations.
Consistent care can help skin look and feel better, but a cream won’t erase every line or make loose skin disappear. You deserve honest guidance about that.
And please don’t feel you need a whole separate collection of products! Before buying something labeled “neck cream,” let’s look at what you already use and whether it suits that area.
At your next facial, feel free to say, “Darcey, can we talk about my neck, too?”
Absolutely. That conversation belongs in the treatment room. ❤️

Your Eyes Are Closed. Mine Are Paying Attention. 🤍
You’re settled into the treatment bed, the music is playing, and you can finally let someone take care of you for a little while.
But have you ever wondered what I’m noticing while you’re relaxing?
Quite a bit, actually.
✨ What cleansing reveals
Once makeup and surface buildup are removed, I can get a better look at your skin. I’m noticing texture, areas of dryness, congestion, and anything that deserves a closer look or a conversation.
✨ What I feel beneath my fingertips
Working with your skin gives me information that looking alone doesn’t. Where does it feel rough? Where does it feel delicate? Are certain areas different from the rest?
✨ How your skin responds
I’m watching throughout your facial, not just at the beginning. If your skin starts looking more reactive, I may change a step, shorten it, or leave it out. I’ll also ask how something feels, because your feedback matters just as much as what I can see.
✨ When to do a little less
More pressure, more exfoliation, or more extractions don’t automatically make a better facial. Sometimes the most thoughtful decision is to stop working on an area and give it some care and comfort.
✨ What to talk about before you leave
I’m also thinking about what would be helpful for you at home. Maybe it’s a small adjustment to your routine, a product question we should revisit, or something I recommend having a dermatologist evaluate.
After more than 30 years as an esthetician, that ongoing attention is such a natural part of how I work. There’s a reason behind what I’m doing, even during the quietest parts of your appointment.
You don’t have to keep a conversation going, either. If you want to close your eyes and enjoy the quiet, please do. This is your time.
I’m still right there, paying attention. 🤍

Before Your Facial, Tell Me What’s New
Even if you’ve been coming to me for years, I always want to know: what has changed since your last visit?
A new prescription, something you ordered online, or a treatment you had elsewhere can matter, even when your skin looks perfectly fine.
After more than 30 years as an esthetician, I know those little details help me better care for your skin. You don’t have to know which ones are important. That’s what I’m here for. ❤️
✨ Your skincare products
Started retinol, prescription skincare, exfoliating pads, or an acne treatment? Tell me what you’re using and when you last used it. Not sure what’s in it? Bring a photo of the label!
✨ Medications or health changes
Please keep me updated privately, even if something doesn’t seem related to your skin. We can discuss whether your treatment needs adjusting.
✨ Recent treatments
Botox, fillers, laser, microneedling, peels, or facial waxing, tell me what you had done and when, along with any aftercare instructions.
✨ How your skin feels
Does your moisturizer sting? Is your skin tight, itchy, or unusually sensitive? You don’t need to “fix it” before coming in. These are things I want to hear about.
✨ Travel and special occasions
Heading somewhere sunny or getting ready for holiday parties and family photos? Let me know ahead of time so we can plan your facial around your schedule.
And please, don’t be embarrassed to tell me you tried something online or picked at a spot. We’ve all been there! My treatment room is a place for honest conversations and helpful guidance.
You bring the updates. I’ll bring the experience, care, and a listening ear. 🤍
Save this for your next facial!

💗 Thank You for Supporting Breast Health Awareness!
Our HerScan evening at The Ridgefield Spa by Darcey was a huge success - a sold-out event with a waitlist! I’m so grateful to everyone who participated and helped make it so meaningful.
As a six-year breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand how much early detection matters, as early detection scans saved my life.
My mission is to spread the word about the importance of early detection and help women become more informed and proactive about their breast health. Bringing screening resources into our community is deeply personal to me.
Know your body, stay current with recommended screenings, and speak with your healthcare provider about whether supplemental screening may be appropriate for you.
💗 Keep an eye out for future breast health screening events hosted at the spa!
Thank you to HerScan and to the women of Ridgefield and our surrounding communities. Your support means the world to me.
With gratitude,
Darcey 💗

Your Skin Is Unique. Your Facial Should Be Too. ✨
Your skin’s needs can change from one appointment to the next, and your facial should reflect that.
Before choosing exfoliation, products, masks, extractions, or advanced therapies, I examine your skin and listen to what you’ve been experiencing.
I consider your hydration, sensitivity, texture, congestion, pigmentation, home-care routine, and personal goals. Then I customize each step to support what your skin needs that day.
With more than 30 years of experience as a licensed esthetician, my goal is to take the guesswork out of skincare while creating a treatment that feels relaxing, personal, and thoughtfully designed for you.

Does your skin feel tight, sensitive or persistently dry, even after moisturizing? Your skin barrier may need support.
After 40, natural oil production and cell renewal can slow, making skin more vulnerable to over-exfoliation, harsh cleansers, environmental stress and too many active ingredients.
Repair begins with a simpler approach: gentle cleansing, barrier-supporting ingredients, layered hydration, daily SPF and consistency.
Read my newest Skin Education guide to learn the signs of a compromised skin barrier and how to help restore calmer, stronger and more resilient skin.
At The Ridgefield Spa by Darcey in Ridgefield, CT, professional treatments and home-care recommendations are always customized to your skin’s current needs.

Are Your Skincare Products Working Against Each Other?
When it comes to active skincare, more is not always better. Retinoids, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, scrubs and other concentrated ingredients can be beneficial, but combining too many products or using them too frequently may overwhelm your skin.
Stinging, persistent redness, flaking, tightness or sudden sensitivity can be signs that your routine is too aggressive. This doesn’t necessarily mean your products are bad. They may simply be the wrong combination, strength or frequency for your skin’s current condition.
A thoughtfully designed routine balances correction with hydration and barrier support. Knowing which ingredients can be used together and which should be alternated, is just as important as choosing the products themselves.
At The Ridgefield Spa by Darcey, professional treatments and home-care recommendations are customized according to your skin’s needs, tolerance and goals.
Let’s simplify your routine and help your products work more effectively.
